Ohm Walsh 2 Speakers (Another Question)

(Ask Vince)

Apr 10th, 2015

Q) In your opinion how would these speakers work as rears in a theater system?

A) These are OK. People want them because of style appeal. Infact the speaker is a common woofer tweeter combination hidden inside an unserviceable sealed metal basket. The units I had were the better peerless dome and better CTS woofer, so they should be reliable. Others had cheaper parts. Ohm products varied tremendously with age and marketing. I will build up similar thing in cabinets like Allison and sometimes I get other Ohms here. About $50 for cabinets alone, $300 for the better version I described, $100 for the cheaper version design (used cheap woofer and paper tweeter). The important concept Ohm was attempting was to have the “Upside Down” woofer create better dispersion. The tweeter glued onto the magnet top of woofer and all in a large nicely tuned for deep bass cabinet. So some blessing. Call for more info. (617)926-8020.
