I specialize in restoring items like this (much more in storage) and these are perfectly calibrated with new belts installed. The condition is literally “as new”. The proper adjustments have been made to the spring tension in the idler drive, head retract mechanism (they all need this work at this age point). Be aware, these machines will often fail to lock in play if you try to cycle from FF to Play in one step. Although it is SAE, these were manufactured by Inkel Corp in Japan, which is where a lot of later SAE stuff came from too. They have excellent audio performance; similar to a Teac 122 or Nakamichi. | $ 320

A number of people have contacted us looking for the battery to these units. At this point, most used batteries left over in storage may be bad. Lead acid batteries if kept under consistent charge will go bad or have poor operating life. The power supplies are obviously special and retain the most value/demand. We do have the power supply for $60. For $80 we also have some of these complete machines in good condition but in need of servicing to repair either the head preamp or the servo circuit system. Both of these circuits are notorious for developing problems with bad capacitors. The repairs would probably cost about $200. These units are in good shape but were abandoned to us by customers who simply did not want to go ahead with the repairs needed, but really they are a bargain for a tech who will put a little TLC into them. We repair the Panasonic SV3700, 3800 (which are the best), and some Sony dat (R500, etc). The Fostex, Tascam DA30 MKII and Pioneers are serviceable too with parts available, No repairs to Sony TCD8s or Panasonic SV255 as crucial parts are no longer available. | Contact Us |
