On my website is a clear explanation about ADA MP1 and mods. Without a doubt the 3 tube mod is a waste of time and money and actually will make the ADA MP1 run incorrectly. This unit operates on the principal that the FETs control the tube voltage and carefully inject distortions into the cathode of the tube and also, the programming on the front panel changes plate voltages to tubes! A remarkably clever design! Obviously, the people who offer this 3 tube mod and double transformer mod do not understand this circuit or its operations technology and they are misleading concerned players.

The modification that I do actually lessens the tube gain, lowers the noise floor, and adds equalization that is better for todays vintage sound. Players want more versatility in programming usual guitar overdrive effects. The original design is way too screechy metal in its overdriven character for too many programs. My alteration allows a wider range of programming to go from the metal to warm, driven to crank, to a bluesy overdrive whereby the overdrive and equalization controls are calibrated more in the middle range of its programming numbers; i. E. Number 5 on the overdrive is now a nicely driven sound rather than a badly overdriven sound but the ADA MP1 will be still be able to be heavily overdriven on an 8 or 9 setting. These modifications were acceptable to the ADA engineer at the time. In fact, he commented that the electro acoustic sound with my parts change was similar to his thinking too, in that it allows for more flexibility for front panel adjustment for even more guitar tube preamping effects.

I have done this mod for 25 years!! No complaints yet. Please call me directly for more info.

Nakamichi BX-1 Capstan Motor

# BFA2L36 with brass pulley. Used in BX series, with mounts & screws. Oiled & tested. Used pulled from salvage unit. Used for years but test ok. #8 (POSSIBLY SOLD) Sorry but we recently sold the part. There's a lot of requests for this part and we may have another one available in the future. We have ways to fix or adapt another part. The cassette deck is getting old now and will have other issues, such as 2 of the mechanical cycling motors appear to be intermittent or non-functional. The aging of deck mechanism now requires a few modifications to make it reliable. We repair and update, calibrate and do modifications to make the machine reliable and seldom replace the motors. There's a service trick to accomplish this. Most people send the unit in. Right now, we have idler assemblies only for in shop service fixes. Typical repair is $200 and usually includes return shipping. Nakamichi did not make this complete machine. The transport is cybernet and is very good. But the installation of this transport is slightly incorrect and not sufficiently aligned in place to allow perfect calibration of head. We have been fixing this stuff for 30 years.

This particular Thorens TD-125 is in excellent mechanical condition, with low use time and it comes with a Precept 440 cartridge with low use (apx. 1 year of time). It has been professionally serviced and cleaned. A separate ground has been added to improve the noise floor. Specs: Drive method: Belt driven, Speeds: 16, 33, 45 rpm, Motor: 16-pole synchronous motor, Platter: 7 ibs, 12" diameter, anti-magnetic die-cast, Rumble: -68dB. The dust cover has a crack on the right side, which has been repaired, otherwise the cover shows typical signs of wear. The tone arm rest is currently not complete but we can find a replacement upon request . Some prefer the machine to be left in a most original state, so we decided to leave it how it is unless specifically requested. Condition is a number 8+.
